Summary

A beautiful and inclusive picture book all about celebrating being yourself from Down syndrome advocate and viral sensation Sofia Sanchez!

It can be hard to be different — whether because of how you look, where you live, or what you can or can't do。 But wouldn't it be boring if we were all the same? Being different is great! Being different is what makes you YOU。

This inclusive and empowering picture book from Sofia Sanchez-an 11-year-old model and actress with Down syndrome-reminds readers how important it is to embrace your differences, be confident, and be proud of who you are。 Imagine all of the wonderful things you can do if you don't let anyone stop you! You are enough just how you are。

Sofia is unique, but her message is universal: We all belong。 So each spread features beautiful, full-color illustrations of a full cast of kid characters with all kinds of backgrounds, experiences, and abilities。

This book also includes back matter with a brief bio of Sofia and her journey so far, as well as additional information about Down syndrome and how we can all be more accepting, more inclusive, and more kind。

I bought this book from the Scholastic Book Flyer my daughter brings home from school every month, and we read it for the first time today。 I thought the book did such a great job of explain to children in an age appropriate way that you are enough and that our differences makes us unique and beautiful。 I also loved the imagery in the book as it depicted people of all races and abilities。

This book is inspired by Sofia Sanchez, known in popular culture for her positive representation of living with Down Syndrome。 Various types of diversity are represented here, including people with vitiligo。

A beautiful pep talk for anyone who has ever felt like they are not good enough 💗

A book about inclusion, inspired by Sofia Sanchez (who has Down Syndrome)。 Includes a FAQ section about Down Syndrome and a guide to talking about Down Syndrome。A little too long and saccharine for me。 Also, don't include illustrations about a rock climbing gym if you don't know how rock climbing works, lol。 A book about inclusion, inspired by Sofia Sanchez (who has Down Syndrome)。 Includes a FAQ section about Down Syndrome and a guide to talking about Down Syndrome。A little too long and saccharine for me。 Also, don't include illustrations about a rock climbing gym if you don't know how rock climbing works, lol。 。。。more

YOU ARE ENOUGH is a beautifully illustrated children's book that teaches that not everyone is the same, and that's okay。 The world would be a boring place if everyone looked the same。 It doesn't matter what your skin looks like, what your face looks like, or if you have a disability。 It's just what makes you, you and that's enough。The main character has Down's Syndrome and there's also some facts about people with Down's Syndrome in the back of the book。 I love how the narrator (Sofia) address t YOU ARE ENOUGH is a beautifully illustrated children's book that teaches that not everyone is the same, and that's okay。 The world would be a boring place if everyone looked the same。 It doesn't matter what your skin looks like, what your face looks like, or if you have a disability。 It's just what makes you, you and that's enough。The main character has Down's Syndrome and there's also some facts about people with Down's Syndrome in the back of the book。 I love how the narrator (Sofia) address the reader and you actually feel like she's talking to you。 The message is inspirational and very important for children to hear。 There are underlying themes of friendship and how everyone needs a friend。 The illustrations are vivid and pop off the page, and I love the various people included (skin color and differences)。Final Verdict: I would recommend this to all preschool children and it would be perfect for a school library。 Sofia is an inspirational person and this book is about building others up no matter their appearance。 。。。more

Another great picture book about even though we are all unique and different, we are all "just right exactly as [we] are。" I'm glad a variety of disabilities are represented, not just one child in a wheelchair。 It also acknowledges that the world may not treat everyone the way they should be treated but that you should keep going and find your own cheerleaders。 Another great picture book about even though we are all unique and different, we are all "just right exactly as [we] are。" I'm glad a variety of disabilities are represented, not just one child in a wheelchair。 It also acknowledges that the world may not treat everyone the way they should be treated but that you should keep going and find your own cheerleaders。 。。。more

A beautiful book with diverse characters throughout the book! SEL and positive self-imagary are radiating from this book。 As the book ends, "Look for the good in the world。 Start by looking in the mirror。 Love what you see there! This book is an amazing resource for teaching kids more about inclusion and accepting people for who they are and their differences。 It teaches kids that it's okay to be different and that it's so important to be yourself because who you are is enough。 I really enjoyed all of the illustrations in this book and how much inclusivity is shown。 While this book is fantastic for teaching kids about differences and exceptionalities, it is a phenomenal book for kids to see themselves represented in book This book is an amazing resource for teaching kids more about inclusion and accepting people for who they are and their differences。 It teaches kids that it's okay to be different and that it's so important to be yourself because who you are is enough。 I really enjoyed all of the illustrations in this book and how much inclusivity is shown。 While this book is fantastic for teaching kids about differences and exceptionalities, it is a phenomenal book for kids to see themselves represented in books and display their differences。 I gave this book 5 stars because it is extremely educational and has such an upbeat tone to it。 I would recommend this book to people of all ages。 It'll always be important to recognize your differences and know that it's okay not to be the same as everybody else。 。。。more

Great book that highlights inclusion and has an educational section about down syndrome。

Sheron

This book is an excellent way to explain to children about how being different is not strange but it does make you stronger, more courageous, and many other wonderful characteristics。

Johannah

Rarely do you find a book about inclusion of people with disabilities and exceptionalities。 That’s cool。 The writing is a little boring but it starts a conversation so that’s great!

Paige

10/10 recommend! Books about inclusion are the absolute best and this is amazing!

A delightful book that asserts that we are ALL enough, just as we are。 Inspired by Sofia Sanchez, a child with Down Syndrome, who is determined to prove that we all are enough no matter what。

The message isn’t new, but it is an important one。 Great illustrations。

This book had amazing illustrations of different kids all over the world。 I love how it focuses on including others no matter who they are。 With a child with a disability it's so important for him to be included even if it's on his own terms。 I also think it's so important to teach my kids to include others。 I love how this book talks about it all and how to feel like you belong。 It's a great book and I really think that most elementary classes should read this book for read aloud but also for p This book had amazing illustrations of different kids all over the world。 I love how it focuses on including others no matter who they are。 With a child with a disability it's so important for him to be included even if it's on his own terms。 I also think it's so important to teach my kids to include others。 I love how this book talks about it all and how to feel like you belong。 It's a great book and I really think that most elementary classes should read this book for read aloud but also for parents to read to their children。 I highly recommend this book。 。。。more

Just simply perfect。

This book is beautifully diverse from skin color to physical disabilities and more。 However, it's pretty didactic and fairly boring。 It has a good message for those kids who may be "different," but it's not very exciting or funny。 This book is beautifully diverse from skin color to physical disabilities and more。 However, it's pretty didactic and fairly boring。 It has a good message for those kids who may be "different," but it's not very exciting or funny。 。。。more

I have mixed feelings about this book。 I think the theme is spot on and a necessary theme which needs to be hit harder in schools through literature and direct instruction, but I do not like some of the print concepts presented and the fact that this is not a "story" but instead more prose。 My students did not have much of a reaction when I read this aloud, and I think that it would have benefitted them more had it followed the life of the main character with downs syndrome in a narrative format I have mixed feelings about this book。 I think the theme is spot on and a necessary theme which needs to be hit harder in schools through literature and direct instruction, but I do not like some of the print concepts presented and the fact that this is not a "story" but instead more prose。 My students did not have much of a reaction when I read this aloud, and I think that it would have benefitted them more had it followed the life of the main character with downs syndrome in a narrative format rather than the one that was chosen。 However, I think that visibility is what matters most, for that I appreciate this book。 。。。more

Full with beautiful children with different, each one amazing, special uniqueness!

Kris

Cute, but pretty basic book about inclusion that does offer a representation of more kids with disabilities than some other picture books of this type do。 The art was a bit too cutesy for my taste, and there is an illustration of a family appearing to picnic outside of a tipi-type play tent, which felt out of place, as many Natives consider these types of play tents to be culturally appropriative。

Charlotte Cassidy

Great book about inclusion and highlights awareness of people with Down syndrome
